Later this week I intend to write a post about the abundant wildflower at Holkham, until then here is a quick preview of what is in flower now.

 

Orphrys apifera

 

The Bee Orchid attracts pollinators not by the usual promise of pollen and nectar but by looking like a potential mate.  Amorous male bees while attempting to "court" the lookalike, facilitate cross pollination.
